TURBULENT DYNAMICS RESEARCH GROUP

Turbulence is everywhere around us. It critically affects the performance of planes, helicopters, ships, submarines, trains, cars, rockets, and more. But due to our limited understanding of turbulent dynamics, our prediction of the behavior of these technologies, especially in unsteady conditions or in maneuvers, is limited.

In our lab, we strive to understand the dynamics of turbulent boundary layers in canonical and non-canonical conditions, towards enabling highly-maneuverable technologies and improved turbulence prediction. We perform novel experiments and we translate our experimental findings into reduced-order models that capture structural and dynamic information about the flow.
